Kathmandu. A complaint has been filed against Rajkumar Tripathi, a resident of Harrow in London who holds British citizenship, at the central office of the Nepali Congress.

Vinod Yonzan, a member of the Nepali Janasampark Samiti in the UK, has filed a complaint demanding the cancellation of Tripathi’s appointment as a member of the Economic Policy and Planning Department of the Nepali Congress.

The complaint mentions that Tripathi’s appointment is against the prescribed standards and the party’s constitution, and it implicates Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba in the matter.

The complaint claims that the appointments in the Economic Policy and Planning Department of the Nepali Congress, including Tripathi’s, are contrary to certain established standards and the party’s constitution. It is said that Tripathi was appointed to the position under the pressure of Nepali Congress leader Shekhar Koirala. Tripathi is a British citizen.

Kiran Paudel, the head of the Nepali Janasampark Samiti Coordination Department, has stated that it is against the party’s rules for a foreign citizen to hold a departmental position. He further clarified that when forming the Nepali Janasampark Samiti, he had followed the guidelines given by the party, and emphasized that the same policy should apply across all departments of the party.

Tripathi claims to be an advisor to the British Minister of Industry and Trade. However, his appointment has not been confirmed.

The complaint sent to the central office of the Nepali Congress mentions that the party’s rules and constitution prohibit the appointment of foreign citizens to departmental responsibilities within the party.

The complaint states, “We would like to draw the attention of the party’s high leadership to the fact that this appointment is inconsistent with the party’s core principles and constitution, and it may affect the party’s internal unity and trust. Therefore, we urge a review of this appointment and a decision in accordance with the party’s policy.”

Earlier, the Nepali Congress had rejected the inclusion of foreign citizens in various departments, including the Nepali Janasampark Department.

Yuvraj Gurung, the President of the Nepali Janasampark Samiti in the UK, stated that applying double standards in party appointments is unjust.
